Dynamic Seating Study
Static to Dynamic Seating is an on-going process based spatial inquiry into the natural inclination of the body to constantly move. A non-traditional manner of gesture study was used to map movement spatially using modern dance. Consideration for transition from one posture to another attempts to challenge the concept of furniture’s impact on our body to yield a chair created using experimental design and carbon fiber molding processes allowing both active and passive postures for the user. 2012.

Intersection Chairs
A pair of conversation benches molded out of bending plywood with urban black walnut seats. Bending process required six volunteers to bend the 8ft long piece of luan plywood. 2011.

QR Cone
The QR Cone is a tribute to the iconic Verner Panton 1958 design. The icon has been repurposed with a QR Code inspired print to lend a mod look with a technological edge. 2011.

Copenhagen Lounger
The Copenhagen Lounger was made during a two-month study abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. The lounger was designed after a weeklong study tour of Finland and Sweden and the study of the history of Danish functionalism. The entire chair is made of beech veneer formed using a vacuum-bagging technique to mold both the chair and backrest components, which were later, joined with a walnut dowel. 2011.

Curve Chairs
Each of the curve chairs were made using two curved pieces created using only one mold. They were cut and reused to maintain the exact same radius. The chairs may be arranged to face each other for conversation or in the same direction to create a long bench. The chairs are made from Luan bending plywood and beech veneer using a vacuum bagging process. 2009.

Huron-Clinton Metropark Bench
A bench created for the Huron-Clinton Metropark as a part of an outreach project focused on the history and importance of the parks in metro Detroit. Bench was installed at Huron-Clinton Metropark. 2011.

Slant Shelf
The slant shelves were designed with a single repetitive form in mind. The shelf departs from traditional horizontal shelves to create a slanted surface on which to stack books diagonally. It is made with European plywood and black walnut spline joints that run the depth of the shelf. 2009.

Modularity
The modular L-tables were a form study working within the constraints of a single shape to create several shapes to be used as tables or benches. Each L-shaped module of European birch plywood was CNC-routed and joined together using threaded rods. Each variation was finished separately in plastic laminate, polyurethane or tung oil. 2010.
